I am a Designer with over 10 years of experience as a Product Designer and CAD Designer. I have experience delivering a wide range of projects in a number of areas.

I can manage my time effectively and regularly deliver projects on time, completed to a high standard.

I am competent using a number of CAD packages and I enjoy learning new software and finding new ways to work.

I liaise well with clients and other departments and enjoy a collaborative approach to my work.

Formisit Ltd – Freelance Product Designer/Business Owner

August 2019 – Present

I am currently working as a full-time freelance designer & contractor. I take on various design jobs, both short-term and long-term and specialise in a number of areas from initial ideation and brainstorming, to CAD modelling, technical drawings, renders & prototyping. Working on various jobs at the same time means I need to plan my time effectively in order to meet deadlines and give each job the proper care.

Coughtrie International – Product Designer

May 2019 – July 2019

I was responsible for designing new lighting products, reissuing and updating existing products and researching the next generation of products. I create sketched concepts, 3D CAD models, 3D printed prototypes and technical drawings. I liaised with suppliers and ensured all products adhered to the BS EN 60598 standards.

Highlights

As lead designer, I manage the design team, assigning tasks and implementing new departmental processes.

Introducing Product Data Management (PDM) software into the business.

Ensuring designs are BS EN 60598 compliant and FMEA is carried out at design stage.

Workspace Design – CAD Designer

April 2017 – April 2019

My duties involved designing and developing bespoke furniture by creating libraries of 3D models, assemblies & parts within Autodesk Inventor. I created technical drawings for approval by the client and for manufacture within the workshop. I also provided Nesting data for the CNC, BOM’s for material ordering & manufacturing packs for joiners and fitters. I have successfully designed a number of bars, reception desks, beds & other bespoke items that have been fitted in numerous locations across the UK.

Highlights

Created a standardised parametric furniture library within Autodesk Inventor using iLogic driven forms.

Created & Co-developed an Excel Spreadsheet tool for costing reception desks & calculating material required.

Simplified the DFM process using LEAN principles.

JTC Furniture – CAD Designer

February 2016 – April 2017

I was responsible for designing bespoke furniture, producing drawings for client approval, manufacture packs and creating programmes for the CNC. I have worked on a range of large student accommodation projects, Education furniture projects and bespoke furniture items. I also created libraries of cabinets for the teaching wall education range.

Highlights

Designing the Fastclass range of education furniture using optimised parametric construction method.

Introducing and implementing the Keyshot rendering software package, used to create photorealistic images of furniture.

Creating CNC data for manufacturing.

Tyko Brands – Designer

March 2014 – January 2016

I was responsible for developing new ranges of watches, sunglasses, packaging and point of sale for the Travel Retail sector and online. I was also responsible for a number of other multimedia projects including flyers, photography, filmmaking, exhibition stand design and training manuals. I successfully co-created a number of different products that have gone into production within the consumer product market.

Highlights

Implemented 3D CAD into the business, using Solidworks to create visuals of products, packaging, POS & Exhibition Stands.

3D Printing & Laser Cutting to rapid prototype packaging & POS prototypes.

Introduced and implemented the Keyshot rendering software package, using it to create photorealistic images of products, packaging, POS & Exhibition Stands to be used in company documents and online.
